Lee Roy Selmon's life is a combination of football scholarship, family service as well as community involvement. The first family is his youngest of nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie raised on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. Two football. He is one of three brothers who participated in the football team of Oklahoma. Three brothers were All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in all of the nation. During his three-year tenure as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and captured two national titles. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded a scholarship for the third season in the year 1975. Selmon obtained his master's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout his time in college. After graduation, he moved into Tampa and played nine seasons with the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro for three occasions. He then began his professional career. His first job was as an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as among the top 10 youngsters from the United States. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs in the time he played football at college. In 1975, he was the captain of the group. In 1993, he joined the University of South Florida's athletic department as associate director. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
