Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington, an independent liberal news outlet has a TV personality as well as a writer and charitable donor. Her move out of Greece to England aged 16 where she received an MA at Cambridge University in Economics. Being the first non-English-speaking student, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. Then she became a syndicated conservative writer following graduation and, with The Huffington Post launched a year following, she launched an online platform to voice opinions which offered critiques of political scenarios. She was able to get several prominent contributors who posted their views regarding politics and culture. Arianna became famous in 2003 when she ran as an independent candidate in the California recall elections to replace Governor Davis. Alongside this she also led the Detroit Project to develop fuel efficient cars. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as one of the top women in the media, achieving 12th place on the list and in the same year Guardian listed her on the top 100 of media lists. AOL acquired The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. She was then made the President of the media division at AOL. It was comprised of several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, a management consultant and journalist. Although she was a close friend with her father, it was the relationship she shared with her mother which shaped her entire life. In her earliest years she displayed leadership qualities that remain highly respected. In her 16th year, she moved to Britain to study and enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. She enrolled in the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years in which she became the third and first female to serve as president. In 1972, her Master's in Economics was awarded. After her graduation she worked as a columnist critic, and a television host. She appeared alongside Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began to write her own novels with his aid.
